|Kona Bass Frame w/ Marzocchi Rocco Air Shock – Only £449|
Kona Bass Slopestyle Frame now £449
This is a frame made for fun. Designed for slopestyle and dirt its 100mm of travel gives you a bike which can handle the bigger stuff as well as giving you hardtail style reactions. Designed by the Kona clump riders including Cowan, you can be sure this frame is well designed and well built.
Its small size and shorter travel makes it an ideal candidate for do it all / cross over gravity stuff like 4x, slopestyle, freeride, dirt, street and park and even a bit of all mountain and DJ. Its 70deg head tube suits a 100mm travel fork with a 1.125 dia.
Various Kona Bass review gives this little thrasher good marks, maybe not as sophisticated as some newer frames but the traditional kona 4 bar linkage is easy to ride and easy to get familiar with.
Reduced from £1200 – the Kona Bass is a bargain at £449. Yes its 3 years old, yes konas are not everyone’s cup of tea, but this frame is fantastic for the price and a dependable little thrasher for the money. Konas also tend to keep there price well so should you wish to upgrade in a few years you should be able to resell with not too much of a loss.

A quick look at some of the new products sent over from Setup Clothing’s 2011 range. Nice quality setup branded t-shirts with nice branding details on the neck, arm and hem. Items come well packaged up along with some stickers which is always nice! They are probably not to every mountain bike riders taste – the Setup style is a very bold and distinctive – but the t-shirt definitely brings some style to a riders wardrobe ! Everything has a fashion street-wear feeling about the products and the t-shirts are certainly a step up from the usual mtb brandwear!
Check out the stuff over at there website www.setupclothing.com Setup have an online store with uk & european shipping only €3 and t-shirts at only £17 / €20!
The Rocky Mountain Slayer SS is a lovely looking yellow beast, an All Mountain work horse that’s at home on Freeride, Weekend uplift and mini DH duties as well as getting stuck in on XC thrashes. A more than capable 152mm of travel from the Fox DHX 5.0 Shock and solid proven geometry from those Canadian pros over at Rocky Mountain! Slayer SS Riders say that the stated “infinite travel” feel really does exist and this frame takes bike park DH riding in its stride.
Build her up with a mid travel fork and enjoy the ups with the downs or slam on some long travel forks and a chain guide for some hard hitting freeride and (as the SS suggests) slopestyle!
With the frame currently on sale at half price (£899) it definitely worth a look if your in the market for an All Mountain frame that’s up for anything. More stats and info over at CRC…
